We chartered with 26 members in December 1921 and celebrated our 90th anniversary in 2011! We currently have approximately 68 active members.

Our club continues to value the membership of mayors, legislators, authors and many business owners who contribute to the community.

Rapid City Rotary Club was responsible for the creation of Storybook Island in 1959 and for its restoration after the disastrous flood of 1972. Its financing, management and operation has been and continues to be the major project of our club. Storybook Island is managed by a board of directors, with members from Rapid City Rotary, Rapid City-Rushmore Rotary, Rapid City Evening Rotary, and the City of Rapid City. The board is committed to maintaining the policy of keeping the park and theater free and open to all individuals.

The Club also supports children's charities and causes that support education and enrichment with partnerships with The Boys and Girls Club, The Journey Museum, local schools and the Little Free Library at Storybook Island.

Other service projects are developed annually.
