Saving and Healing Lives Through Donation

Mar 25, 2021 12:30 PM

Emily Larimer is a clinical hospital coordinator for the western region of SD in LifeSource, the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) which serves the Dakotas, Minnesota, and portions of Western Wisconsin.  Emily witnessed the profound act of saving lives through donation following the loss of her 18-year-old son in 2015.  Nehemiah, the youngest of her three children, designated on this driver’s license to become a donor a few months before a tragic traffic accident.  Through LifeSource, Nehemiah’s choice was honored, and several recipients live with additional chapters to fulfill in their life book.  Emily is profoundly grateful for her colleagues at LifeSource, for the medical community and the connections established with her son’s organ recipients. Emily’s experience includes serving in the U.S. Army Reserve as a system analyst, and as a nurse in the medical surgical, progressive care and intensive care settings.  She has also focused as an RN educator on high fidelity simulation, AHA orientation programs at the VA Black Hills Health Care System.  Emily holds a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Mary in North Dakota.
