Rapid City Rotary Projects and Fun

Dan O’Brien-renowned author, rancher, and falconer-shared some insight on his views of being a somewhat reluctant entrepreneur and stout conservationist.  He and his wife Jill own Cheyenne River Ranch (west of the Badlands National Park).  If you want to know more about Dan, his literature, and his buffalo, click the link below:

Feeding South Dakota Event--
Rapid City Rotarians will be helping to fill backpacks of full for Feeding South Dakota.  These backpacks will be given to school age children to help them bridge the gap between meals they receive at school and what they get at home.  The backpacks go home on Friday with the children to ensure they are well-fed on the weekends and ready to learn the next Monday.  All the food is donated and provided by Feeding South Dakota.  Earlier this year, Rapid City Rotary raised over $700 for Feeding SD’s food program and now we will see the “food in action!”
 2017: The 4-Way Test
The 4-Way test contest is underway at South Middle School. We have a new partner this year.  The middle school children will be writing essays to describe the importance of our four-way test, with the pillars of honesty, fairness, goodwill, and practices that are beneficial to all.  We look forward to reading their entries and giving out the prizes for the students.
October 24 is WORLD POLIO DAY.
Stay tuned for more information about events that our local club will participate in.
Rotary’s fourth World Polio Day celebration, on 24 October, will highlight the
extraordinary progress made in the eradication campaign and emphasize the work
that remains before we wipe out the virus for good. Health officials and Rotary’s
celebrity polio ambassadors will head to Atlanta, Georgia, USA, for the event, the
first to be held at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It will
be streamed live and then will be available for viewing at
Once again our club will be collecting candy for Storybook Island's Trick or Treat event for kids.  It's Men vs. Women and the loser sing a song of the winners choice at the Holiday Party in December.  Start shopping the discount stores fellows as the ladies are 1-0.
UPDATE:  The women win with a come from behind victory.  safe and Sweet Trick or Treat was a tremendous success.  Over $14,000 was raised for the park and 1000s of children came through the park.  Thanks to all the volunteers, donors and Rotarians who helped out!
